Hi, this is Marsh Carroll, creator of “The WHMIS Warble” and “The OSHA HAZCOM Song.” I know that texting while driving is a seriously bad decision that represents a serious workplace hazard. But sometimes, all the ‘serious’ warnings sound like so much noise – which is why I created this fun video about a truck driver who makes all the right choices when he’s on the road. Check it out:

Here’s a little background to how I got started creating videos that break down workplace safety’s serious and complex issues into something simpler – and dare I say fun .  As the health and safety officer for the Winnipeg, Canada high school at which I teach, I train my co-workers annually about Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) – Canada’s equivalent to OSHA regulations in the U.S.  This past year, to spice up the training, I composed a folk song called “The WHMIS Warble – and it became a YouTube hit after USA Today asked me to make an American version. That’s how “The OSHA HAZCOM Song” was born.

Eleanor Jones at ZoomSafer enjoyed that song and asked me to make a music video about the dangers and risks of distracted driving, specifically texting while driving – and so I created “Won’t Start Texting.”
