Last week, Heartlander magazine reporter Cheryl K. Chumley interviewed ZoomSafer’s CEO, Matt Howard, to get the skinny on how our innovative enterprise solutions help employers enforce policies to reduce distracted driving crashes, risk, expense and liability. Ms. Chumley asked important questions about our technology works – and what effects it could have on safety, privacy and insurance. For example, Ms. Chumley asks an important question – what’s to stop an employee from “gaming the system” and using a second phone to get around ZoomSafer’s monitoring technology? Matt explains:
“[In] that case, the employer would be entirely freed from worker’s compensation. If an employee brings a second cell phone and is texting at the time of the crash, the company might get sued … but it’s not liable.
Look, there is no silver bullet. This is about allowing employers to take steps that really change a person’s behavior. But if people are hell bent on breaking a policy, they’re going to do it. Our software has tamper-resistant technology, though, so you can tell if someone is trying to disable it.”
